Fall 2010 RECAP

It's been a fantastic season all-around. We took a chance going outdoors, but we were blessed with great weather all season long. The competition was fierce week in and week out, and by the time the 10th week rolled around, it was anyones cup. I have a few words about each team..

10. Junkyard Dawgs - We saw them first at our tournament in Emmaus, and although they started off slow, they kicked it up a notch towards the end of the season

9. Juggernauts - An ID spinoff, Bill hooked up with a veteran in Thundermeow, and a team full of rookies that just seemed to get along great with each other, heck, 2 of them even got engaged during the season

8. Himmer Hicks - A vastly underrated team, we also met them first at the Emmaus tourney.Their season was filled with pick up trucks, shit kickers, rebel flags, and ended with couches and tires on the court, in true Hick fashion.

7. Freeballers - The founders team, we said goodbye to one of our co-founders, Jay, as he set off to greener pastures. Charlie, Jevon, Sleepy and company held it together best they could, even eeking out a few tourney wins

6. Choads - Where'd these guys come from? We met them opening day, with that nasty sling-arm from Jason, and Mark, who is never afraid to get up close, and ended up paying for it. A solid, season long threat

5. 9OH!8 - These guys get the "Most Distance Traveled" award, driving nearly an hour to make it on gameday. Also a solid threat, the Deemer brothers provided the 1-2 punch, keeping these guys in it every week

4. Baylors - Another ID spinoff, then Balls Deep for DBFB 2010(runners-up), they won our summer tourney and provided the league with the necessary testosterone to make it to the 1/4 finals of the fall tourney

3. Plan B - Veterans from day1, they get the "nice guy award", cause they are. No-Necker and company tore up the regular season again finishing a close 2nd, and placing 3rd in the fall tourney

2. Rusty Trumbones - Say what you want about these guys, but they come to play every week, annihiliating the regular season, and winning every championship D.A.D. had to offer. Hat's off gentlemen.

1 . Incomprehensible Demoralization - The 2nd season for us ends in victory. Some would say because I was out for all but 6 games of the season(with dodgeball injuries of course). Jeremy and Wingnut found some local talent and beefed up their squad, ending the regular season with the most ties(5) and finishing 3rd. We had to win the tournament coming up through the losers losers bracket, beating Plan B, then Rusty...twice. Coca Cola tastes best when you drink it from the D.A.D. Cup!!

I hope to see all you guys back in January, as we go back indoors in Macungue!! Until then, Join us for open session play Wednesday nights in Allentown!!

Regular Season Final Standings

The fall 2010 DAD regular season has come to a close, but the last week was not without excitement!   Baylor's goes 4-0-1 to vault into 4th place overall, while Plan B and Rusty both go 3-2 to finish 1-2 respectively, again. Incomprehensible also went undefeated with 2 wins and 3 ties to finish 3rd. Even though we saw a Choad fall backward after takin one of Cannon's shots off the forehead, they finish in 5th place, going 2-2-1, while 9OH!8 finishes right behind them in 6th with a 3-2 record for the day. The rookie Hicks finished in 7th with a 2-2-1 record on the day and the Freeballers go 2-3 to finish a close 8th.  The Juggernauts finish the season in 9th, going 0-4-1, and the Junkyard Dawgs continued their late-season push with a 1-3-1 record for the day, getting them in double digits pointwise, but still finish 10th.

Here's the standings:
Team                                                                     W-L-T                          Pts
Rusty TrUmbones                                                  34-6-0                           68

Halloween Week 8 - Rusty Drops 2, JYD Win 2, Plan B Perfect Again

As we approach our final regular season week, the pack really seems to be evening out. Rusty equalled their regular season loss total, by losing 2 in one week, and Plan B took advantage by going 5-0, coming within 3 points of the regular season lead. Incomprehensible took out the Dusty Trumpets, but fell to Bill and His juggernauts, clinging on to third with a 3-2 record.  Baylors, and 9OH!8 also posted 3-2, but the best costume award had to go to Thunderball, even though he was having wardrobe failure throughout the day. The Hanson brothers dressed up like Himmer Hicks, but posted a 1-4 record.  Charlie took the league jet down to the Bahamas for the week, setting up D.A.D.'s southern division, and his boys felt it, going winless, and even losing in record time (39 seconds) to the Choads, who posted a 4-1 record for the day. But the story of the day went to the Junkyard Dawgs.  Their presence at our Wednesday night open sessions are really paying off. This week brought them 2 wins, and contending in each game yet again.  If this season was a few weeks longer, the standings would definitely be different.

Next week will wrap up the 2010 Fall regular season, determining the seeding for the final tournament next Sunday, November 14th.  ALL 10 TEAMS WILL BE PARTICIPATING in this double elimination tourney for the coveted D.A.D. Cup.  After the tourney, all players and families are invited to our post season party, which will be held at, uhhh..... we don't know yet, but somewhere for sure.   More details to follow next week.  I apologize again for the technical difficulties on our video recording device, and it was a day filled with brutatlity.  I mean, who's gonna forget Rhino hugging the Deemer brother balls at the same time? Or Shanzy knockin over condommint forehead first?  All this and more, next week for sure!!

Here's the standings:
Team                                                                         W-L-T                       Pts
Rusty TrUmbones                                                      31-4-0                        62

JUNKYARD WINS! JUNKYARD WINS! JUNKYARD WINS!

Another beautiful day of dodgeball in the books.  We saw the fan favorite Junkyard Dawgs pull off their first win, then tie another, and be in contention every game.

Apparently, 9OH!8's tree trunk has a hard time dodging bats, and the Deemer-less Jersey boys had a hard time dodgin balls as well, as racked up a 1-4 record for the day. Although they lost to Junkyard, Baylor's redeemed themselves this week by going 3-2.  Incomprehensible continued demoralizing the competition, holding down a solid 3rd place by going 4-1 on the day.  The Choads showed they are no pushovers either, but scored 2-3.  Charlie, suffering from sand-in-the-vag-itis, had to watch his Freeballin brothers fall 2-3, and the Hicks, showing off a new prospect, DJ, gained 1 win, while holding on to give the Dawgs their first tie of the season, going 1-3-1. Plan B, losing to Baylor's and Rusty, went 3-2, still holding on to 2nd place overall.

Baylor's Babes showed  their discontent for our past, present, reigning, and quite frankly, our only champs, the Rusty TrUmbones, with some creative outerwear. The Bones answered back the only way they know how, by going a perfect 5-0 yet again.

Here's the standings:
Team                                                     W-L-T                               Pts
Rusty TrUmbones                                   28-2-0                                56
Plan B                                                   24-5-1                                49
Incomprehensible Demoralization           17-11-2                                36

D.A.D. wednesdays - SUCCESS!!!

About 17 of showed up at St. Peters on Hanover Ave, we split it right down the middle, and got it on for 2 straight hours.  All that was required was to sign the customary "Don't Sue Us" waiver and pay your 3 bucks.  We played right up until the final bell. At 7:58, there were cries "One More! One More".  I think this will be a great way to get new people out as we broke in Charlie The New Guy.  This will continue every Wednesday night until the end of the year at least. Bring your neighbors, co-workers, friends, gitlrfriends, heck, even your little sister(my 10 year old played tonight and played well).  For 3 bucks, how could you go wrong? So if you  are one of the 18 people from Kuwait, or one of the 22 from Columbia who diligently follow this blog week after week, and you happen to be in the neighborhood... drop on in!   We have a great time.   If you are one of those sneaky captains, you can search the talent pool for your next ringer, or form teams for the many tournaments that 2011 has to offer.  See you Sunday..and Wednesday!!

Spend Wednesday Nights With Your D.A.D.!

By popular demand, the Dodgeballer's Association of Dodgeball is adding Wednesday nights to fulfill your midweek dodgeball desires!  Beginning Oct 20th, we will hold open-session dodgeball at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1933 Hanover Avenue, Allentown, Pa., from 6-8pm.  The first 2 weeks will be of the open-session variety, show up, pay your $3, we'll choose teams, then get it on for 2 solid hours.
After 2 weeks of getting some new faces used to D.A.D. and his balls, we should be able to begin a regular season November 3rd.

What do I have to do to register you may be asking yourself...  We've simplified that process, by dividing it into 7 forms with 19 sections and 48 sub-sections.  Or..... how about you just show up October 20th with 3 bucks?  Simple as that...
But if that is too complicated for you, you can email Steve at steve@daddodgeball.com, or give him a call at 484.264.5374

Baylors Has A Top Notch Day, Go 5-0 in Week 5!!

We had a season's worth of highlights in this week alone!  We saw the top 2 teams go down in a heap, with the fabulous Incomprehensible D knockin Rusty down to size, and a No-Necker-less Plan B lose 2 and tie another, all while Bad Brad's Boys creep ever closer to the top with an undefeated day.  Man was I rootin for the fan favorite Junkyard Dogs, I thought they were going to get their first win.. twice.  The Choads, apparently enthused with their new uniforms, knocked off Plan B, again, to go 4-1 for the day.  The Juggernaut Boogie was also in full-effect, but it just wasn't the day for Bill's boys and girl as they left the court dejected after an 0-5 afternoon.

Fall Season Set to Kick Off

Alright all you crazy dodgeballers.  You know who you are....the ones who agreed to play 10 sundays from September 12th  through November 14th outdoors, in the elements.  Even paid to do so.  There is much to be said about that.   There are 10 teams worth of you hard-chargers!
Here's how its gonna go down this Sunday:

For all of you that haven't filled out a registration form, arrive early to fill them out.  There will be plenty on hand. You will also want to arrive early to warm up.  We need to throw our first pain-seeking dodgeball precisely at 11am, to avoid scheduling conflicts and your precious NFL games.  Staff will be there from about 10 am.

Service Electric TV2 is supposed to be there filming again, along with a photographer from Lehigh Valley Sports Extra.  We will also have our league photographer taking team pictures throughout the day.
I will also be filming all the craziness!

Just a footnote,  In the case of excessive rain, we will be excessively wet!

We will play at cedar beach #4, the fenced in basketball court directly ajdacent to the volleyball courts

You can enter the park at Ott St., between Hamilton and Parkway Blvds. Parking is down the road on your left.

D.A.D. Open Summary

Well folks, another successful day of action-packed dodgeball has come and gone.  A truly awesome turnout on an otherwise dreary day. Today brought some new faces to us from far and wide.
Our friends to the east from Washington and Hackettstown, NJ definitely made a big impact, even before a ball was thrown. Pink shirts, US flag headbands, black shorts, and high socks... I was touched gentlemen.   Lancaster, Pa had a strong showing in one Alex Fitz.  That guy is a one-man highlight reel.
Hailing from the metropolis of Schneckadelphia, Pa, was Josh Oswald and friends. The rookies gave a gallant effort, even eeking out a few wins.  We hope to see all of them come September.

Incomprehensible Demoralization had a bit of a showing also..... with Juggernaut and myself both on th DL (at least I got hurt playing Dodgeball HAHA), Jeremy and Wingnut were the anchors for an otherwise rookie squad.  They shared the best round robin record with Baylors, but eventually lost 3-1, in the best-of-five championship series.

The Freeballers were also in attendance....both of em.   The decided to step up onto the bandwagon, and join The Dodgeballs For Breasts 2010 runners' up, Baylors.

Please, if you were a participant, or a spectator, please let us know who YOUR favorite team was today?
